Hey All :]

I guess it's my turn to update [:

For the first time in my schooling life, I've gotten a grade higher than a C in a math class. It feels nice and surreal. It may not seem like a big achievement but it feels like it to me...math is definitely something I've struggled with all my life. The struggle isn't over for me, yet, but I see that I'm much closer to actually completing it and transferring, yay. I have to give major credit to Jake for helping me and dealing with my frustration with math, which I'm sure I've taken out on him at least once. I don't think I would have gotten here without his encouragement and without a much better teacher/structured class this semester. So yeah. Woo. I've spent a lot of time on it this semester, which is also new. One night it's an all-nighter with algebra, the next with figure drawing. Hahaa.

I've been reading this book Julie gave me last year for my birthday, Women Who Run With The Wolves. It's totally not what I was expecting (come to think of it, I don't even know what I was expecting) but it's really interesting. It's also been a bit creepy because every time I pick it up and read it, it touches on something that's been going on with me inside emotionally or in my life in a way that I'd felt, but been unable to consciously form a thought about.

Last Sunday I saw my second Cirque du Soleil (Quidam) with my family (thanks to Elyse and April for the Christmas gift!). It was awesome. I left feeling energized and inspired. I asked Steve if, instead of paying for me to go to college, if he'd want to chip in on me going to circus school? He laughed...I guess that means no. I kind of regretted not realizing sooner in life that performing in a circus like that is totally something I'd want to do...in addition to being an artist. Oh well, another dream life.

Spring Break is the end of this week and I'm so sosososo glad. I don't really have plans beyond going to Santa Cruz with Julie. Monica called me so I may have to go see her, too.

Okay well I suppose that's it for now :]

YO

Hey lovelies!

this is gonna be quick because I seriously need to be focusing right now, but in my procrastination I rediscovered this blog because I had favorited the link then totally got distracted! Its so nice to see that you guys are updating it though, and I definitely want to get into it too! I probs wont be very present until May though - my thesis is due at the end of the month and I'm super behind; so thats what I need to be doing right now actually, haha.

BUT... short life update;
1) I've been super antisocial lately, writingwritingwriting my thesis
2) I saw girl talk last weekend! that was my last social event of April, I think.
3) I briefly dated Zak again (4 mos-ish). It was really, really wonderful and positive and interesting and we broke up today and decided to just be friends, and to really try to keep it friendly and positive this time. I'm excited that we are friends again, and generally feeling positive about the whole thing.
4) I can't friggin wait to GRADUATE! May 14's the date! I'm just pushin through til I get there!
5) I'll be back in the bay May 24-June 23. Lets make the most of it - I love you guys.
6) I'm SO SO SO excited to be going back to Nepal, and finally to have the opportunity to do this project that I have been working on for so so long. I can't believe its happening. My mind is blown, but I am so happy!
7) I miss you all and can't wait to see you agaaaain!

... more later! I must FOCUS, furrealz now. <3

partying partying yeah

I just posted this to my livejournal and thought... I should post it here instead! So, I'm kicking it back old school for you guys and sharing the results to a test I just took :)

"Always happy in a crowd, you love to converse, to relate, and above all to have fun. You tend to think in a more holistic manner than many others. Like a crow you are attracted to shiny objects, new ideas, playful exciting colors and the thrill of a new personal relationship. You love to talk or gossip. You are highly invested in the reality of day-to-day life. Practicality is far more important than issues of honor or allegiance. You are a creature of the here and now. You are a natural multi-tasker, often switching mid-thought from one duty to another. You have a flair for presenting your personality in your work, and are known as a great storyteller and natural actor. You are very skilled at taking in a barrage of information and distilling what is most important from it. Naturally charming, you are quick to win new friends. Over stimulation is a danger."

I'm confused by this test. But it was fun. Share your results! :)

Now for a little life update: I am 22! I celebrated all weekend (but missed you guys on the east coast). My brother took the train up from LA to celebrate with me :) best birthday present by far. Saturday night was a good old room party with the usual activities: eating guacamole, fire spinning, hooping, music, dancing (though not as much as normal...), beer pong, randomness, and the not so usual activities: crying about Spiro with Melissa and crying with Brittany about our friendship dramas as of late. Sunday night my family plus Brennan and Jake went out to Herbivore (my favorite vegan restaurant in Berkeley) and I was surprised with an LED hoop (plus other nice presents) afterward. Monday, my actual birthday, I had a test in socio (boo), but went to Muir Beach with Zach, Stephanie, Jim, and Brittany in the evening.

Brennan and I are actually officially broken up now, no more of this "on a break" or "together when we're together" stuff we've been doing. My birthday weekend was our last weekend being sort of together. I wonder what it will be like when we are in person again... I've only ever known him as something more than friend, but now we have "friendship boundaries" which I still don't understand exactly... I don't know how to be just a friend around him, so for now I am happy to have the distance between us.

Okay, I suppose that's all for now.

P.S. I feel the need to share some music, too. Enjoy :)

april 4th

Now I am sick too... I woke up yesterday with an almost-unnoticeable sore throat and proceeded to go on a long, hard bike ride, which brought down my defenses. Yesterday evening and last night were just miserable. So I am taking the day off from school, which I'm really glad for. I plan to do Spanish and math homework, nap, and sit in the sun.

I've been trying to listen to more piano music lately since I am learning piano. I have been listening to this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SSK_IYNsja4) nocturne by Chopin nonstop. It is so sad and beautiful. I printed out the sheet music for it and have been trying to learn it even though it is way past my level. Trying to learn a hard piece seems in some ways more beneficial than learning the really simple pieces for class.
